Two sisters own and operate A Good Soak Bath and Body. Jane calls her sister Kay, a mad scientist. Kay became interested in essential oils and their healing properties. She discovered that when children were sick with fever, she would add peppermint to their baths to cool them. Kay often phoned Jane to tell her that cosmetics at the pharmacy had the same ingredients as the expensive products at department stores. Kay thinks everyone should be able to enjoy high quality products at an affordable price. And so it began.
Jane really liked her sister's body products and listened to the positive responses from Kay's market research....give away's. Proud sister Jane said, "You really have something marketable here, KK. Let's dress it up and sell it. Seriously..... 'now' is a good time to start."
After years working in the corporate world, Jane had developed a keen business know-how. She had participated in multi-million dollar mergers and acquisitions, and managed corporate real estate portfolios. Her exposure to various brand cultures made her realize that her sister had a real winner here.
A girls weekend and a marathon deliberation later, they had their logo and direction. Jane started working on the brand, and Kay went home to concentrate on her winning recipes. Just like that, two sisters were in business together. They already knew who had what strengths and weaknesses so they skipped that step and moved right on to a natural partnership.
